Walla Walla Excitement (the purple teeth continuum)

[It took me a few days to write this because of all the planning!!]

It's been two years since we've been to Walla Walla and we cannot wait to return! We'll fly into the airport on a Thursday morning and leave Sunday afternoon. Did you know there are over 200 wineries in Walla Walla Valley? Here are our top favorites that we're excited to revisit! 

In the airport/Eastside district, we plan on tasting at

Five Star Cellars

They have several 90 + Wine Spectator wines but our favorite is the Cabernet Sauvignon. 

Buty

We love both of their lines, Buty and the Beast, and not just for their names. My favorite Buty wine is the Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc blend. My favorite Beast wine is the Semillion.

Abeja

We're trying to make reservations for Abeja because of their amazing Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. We also hear their winery is gorgeous!

Charles Smith makes big, flamboyant, colossal wines. Our favorite wines are with grapes sourced from Cayuse vineyards. 

We're also excited to visit Tranche Cellars in the East Walla Walla wine region. We enjoy their other label, Corliss, immensely! Hopefully we can make reservations to taste too.

We will definitely go to the Worm Ranch and have tortas! It's in the Westside wine region, right down the street from L'Ecole No. 41 and Woodward Canyon. We just made reservations for Woodward Canyon's Reserve House Private Tasting!!  Bunchgrass is another winery, we're looking forward to visit, just down the highway.

Since we're there for four days, we'll also go to the Southside/Milton-Freewater area to taste at:

Waters We love their truly artisanal wines and syrah. In addition to a estate bottling, they offer a Loess (Leonetti vineyards) and other fantastic wines.
Kerloo Cellars We love the former winemaker of Va Piano.
Saviah makes a lot of great wines, but in particular we like their excellent Cabernet Sauvignon!

Now located downtown, we're also planning on tasting at Flying Trout!

Winemaker Ashley Trout is a Whitman alumni and spends half of her year in Argentina. She has several Malbecs and Torrentes that we find unique in Washington wine culture.
