The Sound of Music

Did you grow up watching the Sound of Music? Was "Do-Re-Mi" one of the first songs you learned how to play on the piano? Did you sing "So Long, Farewell" when you went to bed at night? Is my blog named after my favorite childhood movie?

If you answered yes to any, or all, of those questions, you might be excited to know that it's the 45th anniversary of the movie, SOUND OF MUSIC!
How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

My best friend from college invited me to a Sing-Along Sound of Music viewing next week for the movie's 45th anniversary celebration! I'm listening to the movie soundtrack in anticipation.

What's your favorite Sound of Music song?

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes
Silver white winters that melt into spring
These are a few of my favorite things!

When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember
my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad!

The Lonely Goatherd is also one of my top favorites.

One little girl in a pale pink coat heard
Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo

She yodeled back to the lonely goatherd
Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo

When's the last time you saw the Sound of Music?

i LOVE this movie - more so now that I'm older than when I was a kid.

As for Halloween movies - I love:

- It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (obviously)
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Halloween Town
- Harry Potter(s) - when ABC plays them though, for Halloween specials and they do fun behind the scenes stuff!

Basically anything, really. Halloween movies are fun!
