BEST MOVIE EVER-Sherlock Holmes

I finally received this movie in the mail from Netflix. It was worth the wait. Sherlock Holmes had amazing sound and movie quality. The story was fast paced and intriguing and the characters were supremely engaging. Robert Downey Jr. was a stellar (savant) detective and such an awesome boxer. I even enjoyed Jude Law as Watson, because he wasn't a womanizer, for once. I also enjoyed the brief scenes with Rachel Adams, playing Irene Adler. I love her costumes! (source)

The banter between Holmes and Watson was hilarious too.

Sherlock Holmes: You've never complained about my methods before.
Dr. John Watson: I'm not complaining. How am I complaining? When have do I ever complain about you practicing the violin at three in the morning, or your mess, your general lack of hygiene, or the fact that you steal my clothes? 

If you haven't seen this movie, prepare to be amazed by the characters, plot and action!

We just bought our tickets for Prague!!!

We just bought our tickets to go to Prague in September! I'm so EXCITED!!!

Have you been there before? Do you have any suggestions? I'm so busy at work, I haven't had much time to look at tourist attractions and lodging. I welcome any ideas!!!

If I were to add one thing to my wedding assemble, I would have added a beautiful headband. The new ban.do headbands are nearly as glamourous as the these Carol Hannah wedding dresses. What do you think of this headband called, Let Them Eat Cake?  I love the model's red hair with the blue ostrich feather. (As a child, I totally wanted to have red hair like this, after reading Anne of Green Gables!)

By the way, Cupcake Royale has a new flavor, just perfect for weddings. It's Lemon Mascarpone. 

I've recently seen Wink Cupcakes on Queen Anne too. Has anyone tried them? I love their website photos.

This girl is amazing. She's critically acclaimed on Broadway, originating the Elle Woods role in Legally Blond the musical and getting a Tony nomination! If that wasn't impressive enough, she also has a top selling country album, Achin' and Shakin'. I've been listening to it all day and I love it. It's a great blend of heartbreaking and make-you-want-to-dance tunes.

Enjoying new music on Thoughtless Thursday!

What new music have you been listening to recently? I just downloaded the Power of Madonna CD from the most recent Glee episode. Oh wow, it's bringing back all my random, early 90s memories. It's so awesome and fun.

I also just downloaded Laura Bell Bundy's CD, because I keep hearing her catchy tune, Giddy On Up, on the radio. Do you like country music?

My husband says it reminds him of ikebana, Japanese flower arrangements. Angular arrangements against the plain background to achieve the balance between them.

Wishful Wednesday...Glee character

It's time for Wishful Wednesday! 

'I wish' .... I could be a GLEE character for an episode and it would be _Rachel Berry_!

Who wouldn't want to be Rachel? She's talented, self-assured, and a self-described star! She's got a fun, preppy sense of style. She can belt all my favorite songs with pizazz!

I would have especially loved to be her in high school. The biggest parts I played were Sandy from Grease and Hermia from A Midsummer's Night Dream. 

I loved playing the lead, but I wish I had started singing and dancing like Rachel Berry at a younger age! 

(I'm thinking of a particular line from the episode, Sectionals. 

Mercedes Jones: Look Rachel, the truth is; you're the best singer we've got. 

Kurt Hummel: As much that it hurts me to admit it, and it does... shes right. Rachel is our star. If anyone is gonna go belted on the fly, it should be her.

Rachel Berry is amazing! I wish every girl in high school could have (even half of) her confidence!

This was our view to the East from our reading spot on Sunday afternoon. Mount Rainier was out in full glory. 

After entering data all weekend, it was really refreshing to relax on the rocky beaches and finish my book, Temple of the Winds. 

Mr. F loved his wearing his crazy new shoes, the Five Fingers. He says it's like being barefoot and it strengthens your feet. It should be good for running! 

It's crazy that they have individual toes! I'm not sure I could pull them off, but my husband enjoys them so much he insists I should try them. 

I think they look a little like frog feet...

The Performa are primarily indoor shoes. 

The Classic or the Sprint are probably best for beach walks and running.

Zen beach sculpture...this weekend was a blur

I'm back to the blogging world, after working all weekend. Thankfully, I got a lot of data entered. Mr. F and I were able to go to the beach briefly and read for an hour. It was absolutely blissful after staring at the computer too long. I'll post a few of my pictures tomorrow of the rocky Magnolia beaches.

Walla Walla Wine Tasting Suggestions

Mr. F and I are dreaming of a three day weekend to Walla Walla. If you're interested in visiting the area, here are my suggestions!


I would skip over the awesome but more commerical Walla Walla wineries that you can find in grocery stores, for example, Tamarack Cellars, Northstar and L'Ecole. While some of my old favorites, they're not as special as the smaller boutique wineries that are not easy to find in Seattle. (Although Northstar and L'Ecole have beautiful and delicious Reserve tastings!) Our top three favorite wineries in Walla Walla are Dusted Valley Vitners, Mannina Cellars and Flying Trout wines. (We joined all three of their wine clubs!)

Since it's hard to visit all of my favorite wineries in one weekend, I'll break them up into four main regions. (Yes, we are big wine nerds.) 

In the airport area, there are many good ones like Syzygy and Five Star Cellars, but make sure to taste at Mannina Cellars and Buty. (We joined the Mannina Cellars wine club because their entire lineup of wines are amazing and consistently great.) In the summer, I really enjoy the Buty Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
 I also highly recommend trying Rose of the Stones, part of the second label for Buty, called the BEAST.  Even if you're not a fan of Rose, taste this and it will totally changed your mind. 

Dusted Valley and Saviah (in Southern Walla Walla/Milton Freewater) are phenomenal. If you get a chance, enjoy the Walla Walla Valley Reserve Syrah and Grenache at Dusted Valley. They have a huge lineup and most of it is fantastically excellent. (We love being part of their wine club, Stained Tooth Society!)  Flying Trout, in Milton-Freewater, is a must taste BUT you have to call ahead, 541.938.8376. It's worth it. I promise. They have a fantastic Malbec, one of the first to grow in Washington. The winemaker went to school with us and she spends three months of the year in Argentina. 

Lowden Hills is one of my absolute favorite wineries, particularly their See You There Syrah and it's to the West of Walla Walla, near Highway 12. I've blogged about them in detailed before, please check out this link to the previous post!

Downtown Walla Walla is easy to walk around and to wine taste at night. DaMa has a fun tasting room. I'd also suggest Ash Hollow. Although, I'd skip Sleight of Hand, because it doesn't stand out. Yellow Hawk Cellars can be found easily in Seattle but their "port" is delicious. 

Overall, if the grapes are from Ciel du Cheval vineyard or from any Red Mountain vineyard you can't go wrong.  

If you like Mexican food, go to the Worm Ranch on the way to, or from, Highway 12. It's a fish and tackle store, with unbeatable authentic Mexican food made by four cute little old grandmothers. Merchants is also a great place for a spaghetti dinner with lots of local wines. A more upscale option with an amazing local wine list would be Creektown Cafe!
