Great book and tv show suggestion!

I just finished reading "Wizard's First Rule" this evening. It's the first enchanting tale of the Sword of Truth series. If you like Lord of the Rings, Wizard of Oz, King Arthur and Robin Hood, or Joan of Arc, you will enjoy these grown up fairy tales by Terry Goodkind.

It's also a really entertaining and addicting TV show. The first season is very true to the first book, although perhaps with a few less special effects. I haven't seen many episodes of the second season yet, but it's suppose to be to be based on the second and third books! I highly recommend reading and watching these delightful adventures! [Source: Legend of the Seeker Fan page on Facebook]

Maui Wowee!

Mr. F and I had an amazing time in Maui! We snorkeled every day and even went on a snorkeling boat trip to Molokini! We saw a few Humpback whale tails too!
We stayed near Black Rock on Ka'anapali Beach! We saw a turtle and a ray on our first day!We also had several fabulous meals, especially the "Road to Hana", vintage chocolate cake at Lahaina Grill!

Gazebo in Napili has the best breakfast!! We went twice! This is our view from our hotel balcony (Ka'anapali Beach Hotel)! On our last day in Maui, we drove up to Haleakala! It was so windy and picturesque. We loved all the Nene signs too!  [Source from Wikipedia because they were too fast to get a good picture!]Our last dinner in Maui was at Mama's Fish House in Paia! It was phenomenal, especially the Poke appetizer and the Polynesian Black Pearl dessert!  Aloha!

My favorite childrens books

Happy Birthday or Whatever: Track Suits, Kim Chee, and Other Family DisastersI'm currently reading Happy Birthday or Whatever: Track Suits, Kim Chee, and Other Family Disasters in Maui. My best from high school recommended it because it's so laugh out loud funny. Thanks, Andy Mac!

As a child, I remember fondly curling up on a window seat, or under a tree and reading my way into another land. Some of my favorite books were series like, the Wizard of Oz books, Nancy Drew, and the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I came across my old L. Frank Baum books at my parents house over Christmas. I love the vivid and fantastical covers. One of my favorite characters was OzmaWhile I was reading the series, Ozma and Dorothy were always close to my age, and I enjoyed that they were full of adventure and mischief. [Apparently the Lambertville Library has the entire text of Ozma of Oz on their website.

If you don't have time to read the whole book, just look at a few of the amazing illustrations by John R. Neill!]

My cat Lyra's New Year's Resolution

Aloha and Hau’oli Makahiki Hou, which is the Hawaiian way to say Happy New Year. It’s pronounced, “how-oh-lay ma-ka-hee-key ho”.

This is my cat, Lyra, also known as Lulu or Big Fat Momma Cat.

Happy Hawaiian New Year!

Today we plan on exploring the island and staying a night on Haleakala! We're going to watch the sunrise!
