A fun in the sun weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend with our good friend, Beav! Friday night, we had a divine dinner at the Metropolitan Grill. Yes, we had the best steak in town with the most spectacular four cheese macaroni and cheese! There was a Saturday night stroll in the Shilshole Bay Marina...to walk off our fabulous dinner from my favorite restaurant, La Isla. The sunset was beautiful! We had Sunday brunch at the new Walrus and the Carpenter...This is the La Tur cheese and Ballard Honey...simply delicious.Mr. F had the fancy poached peaches and cream. He and our friend had the pork crepinette with brioche, apricots and a poached egg too! After brunch we wandered through the Ballard Farmer's Market. And then, we went paddleboarding!! The boys decided they were more comfortable paddling from a lower stance.I really enjoyed the stabilizing/core muscle exercise and was able to stand for almost two hours!

Happy One Year Blog Anniversary!

It's hard to believe my first blog post was already a year ago! Please keep checking back in the next week, my blog will be getting a new design in honor of its birthday!!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Breakfast and books and sweet husbands smitten
Brown J Crew packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp rhubarb strudels
Fairy bells and gin wells and wine with noodles
Fun clothes to buy without credit card stings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Cupcakes, ice cream that melt into rings
These are a few of my favorite things

When the cats bite
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling mad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Baci!

My iGoogle art of the day was The Kiss By Francesco Hayez today! Something about this painting looked familiar, so I was amazed when I found the connection was BACI!  [source] When I was traveling abroad my junior year of college, I lived in Perguia, Italy for 6 weeks. I visited the Perugina chocolate factory and it was amazing. I stood next to the largest Baci every made!
I love that Perugina Baci chocolates took the Kiss painting for their label in the 1920s. I just found a website that sells these Italian treats, called the Wild Cocoa Bean! If you've never had Baci chocolates, you are in for a chocolate hazelnut treat![source]  Each chocolate comes with a sweet love note too!

My anniversary weekend!

We had a brief trip to Vashon on Saturday! We had delicious red velvet cake for our anniversary!
But we missed our cats and the beds were uncomfortable at our bed and breakfast, so we came home a day early.

Mr. F drew drew this kitty picture on Sunday!

I also dreamed up how I wanted to spend my gift certificate, but I already posted about it! ;)

Anthropologie's Raccoon Rumpus Blouse Review

I tried on the Raccoon Rumpus Blouse at Anthropologie yesterday. The swiss dot material and cut of this blouse are so perfect and flattering. I almost bought it, especially since I have a gift certificate that I won on Effortless Anthropologie, but it may be too striking to wear frequently. It looks great with jeans and perhaps with a short skirt. I tried it with a long skirt, but I wasn't a fan. The Field Scout skirt is not for short girls. It has great pockets, but unfortunately the length of the skirt was at least two inches below my knees. If I wore four inch heels regularly, perhaps I might have pulled this look off.

Ultimately, I hesitated over the price of this beautiful raccoon blouse. It wasn't too low cut, I could wear it to work or out to dinner, but I don't regularly pay $88 for a top. It's super pretty and I love the pattern, but I'm being indecisive. If you had a gift certificate, would you buy it? I'm worried if I wait to long, I won't find it.

OMG, I just checked the sale rack online this morning! This adorable shirt dropped in price to $49.95!!! I'm sold.

It's our two year wedding anniversary!

Mr. F and I were married at the Shilshole Bay Beach Club in Seattle, two years ago. The wedding took place on the banks of the Puget Sound in Ballard. The sun was shining and the mountains were out in full glory. It was a beautiful day!  (Erin Schedler captured the day wonderfully too!) Happy anniversary to us! Everyone was smiling and full of cheer...The bridesmaids were lovely! The Cupcake Royale cupcakes were delicious. The sunset was phenomenal. The groomsmen were dashing! We had so much fun dancing and spending time with our friends!
Here's to many, many more years of happiness!

Kicking back...like we're on our honeymoon

Slightly less than two years ago, we were celebrating our honeymoon on Kauai!
We're now celebrating our wedding anniversary on a more local Washington island!
The Puget Sound is a little too cold for snorkeling, (in my opinion,) but we will be going on beach walks!
What's your favorite island?
