Upcoming this week!

This next week is going to be a whirlwind of fun!

On Monday, Mr. F and I are going with a friend to RPM, Giuliana and Bill's Chicago restaurant. We like their television show and we like the Lettuce Entertain You restaurants so this should be great!

Apparently, Giuliana and Bill go to their restaurant frequently, and they were seen there tonight!

On Thursday, Mr. F and I are flying to Denver for a conference.

We're hoping to see Mr. F's cousin, in Boulder, for dinner and meet her new King Shepard puppy, Dexter!

This is a picture of him a few months ago when he was three months old....and this is him last month at 5 months old and 70 pounds.....Dexter is going to be approximately 150 pounds when he's fully grown.

We'll be in Denver until Saturday! I've missed seeing mountains in Chicago!

Foodie photos and weekend pictures

On Thursday, Mr. F and I used a Groupon for a restaurant called, Zealous! We started with duck salad appetizers, and fancy cocktails with lavender syrup and rhubarb. We also had a goat cheese and beet salad, a fun burger with Havarti cheese and garlic cheese fries, and the Korean style fried chicken with sticky rice cakes and apple salad. The "Bruleed Key Lime Tart with Mixed Berries and Chantilly Cream" was stunning and delectable. A bonus dessert came with the check too!
Friday night, we met Mr. F's high school buddy at Tank Noodle for some of the city's best pho!

Saturday night, we met our Chicago besties at Quartino's before the Snow Patrol concert. We had arugula pizza, small plates of  lamb ravioli and skirt steak, short ribs and garlic shrimp. While the boys ended the meal with salami and olives, the girls enjoyed chocolate fondue with strawberries and biscotti.
Sunday night, we had dinner with our Chicago besties again, and watched Game of Thrones! My cousin Katy made delicious sweet potatoes and green beans, while Rob made flat-iron steak.
We had a lot of fun with their kittens, Lewis and Clark too! I'm also really looking forward to attending the Tracy Reese event at BHLDN this week with Katy!

Beautiful colors this week

I am continually mesmerized by the tulips on my street. I take pictures of them daily, so I thought I'd share more!My husband made an amazing dinner, Tuesday night for his boss and wife. This is a picture of the first course with salad in a blacked pepper shell with almonds and manchego cheese. We also had goat cheese in marinara with fresh basil to dip bread in. It was so delicious I forgot to take a picture of the second course, skirt steak with cilantro-parsley sauce and quinoa.
Here are the flowers on the way to meet my carpool buddy.

I can't believe it's finally Thursday! We're looking forward to the weekend. We're going to see Snow Patrol with friends, get pho and go to Chinatown with Mr. F's friend from high school!

DIY Party at my cousin, Katy's

Sunday was a very humid spring day in Chicago. Although, I didn't mind too much as I took the brown line to the Loop for an exciting DIY Party! First, I was greeted by my cousin's adorable Tokanese kittens. They quickly became tuckered out from so much attention this weekend. Throughout the party, we made Martha Stewart's Big Crepe Flowers featured on the Green Wedding Shoes Blog

We made doily cards from this website with several different shades of purple paper!

We also made the crepe flowers in varying sizes.
We also made the Stormy Morning Cocktail!

The Creme di Violette was beautiful but it took a few tries to get the gradient right. As we found out, substituting lemonade is not the same as fresh lime juice!

The last week in pictures

The tulips in Chicago are stunning this month. Although, many are starting to look quite windblown.
On Friday night, we had a BBQ with our friends, and played with their Tokanese kittens. Unfortunately, I have trouble telling which one is Lewis and which one is Clark.
Appartently, Lewis has the longer nose....
Yesterday, we went to the Slurping Turtle for lunch! We've wanted to go here, for some time now, and it totally met our expectations. We got to sit at a table next to the window, right next to the sign! I got a cute cocktail called, "Spirited Away".
Have you seen the movie, Spirited Away

We also had amazing gyozaand cool noodle dishes.
I got the Shoyu and Mr. F got the Tonkotu.
They were both absolutely delicious, but we both preferred  my soy broth more. It tasted like peanut sauce!

Here's the trailer for Spirited Away:

This morning, I'm off to my cousin's DIY party. We're making macarons, paper flowers, glittery cake toppers and stormy morning cocktails. I can't wait!
